[description] => We are looking for a Data Science Intern to join our Data Science team here in Wimbledon, on a 2 months fixed term contract. As a Data Science Intern, you will have the unique opportunity to use your data and analytical skills to positively affect the performance of the business.

D&G is large enough to have data sets that cover most of the UK population but small enough to give inspired people the chance to improve how their business works.

Responsibilities:

Developing new predictive models using the most up to date Machine Learning algorithms in R or Python. There are some parts of D&G that have not yet benefitted from predictive modelling. As an intern you will be given the opportunity to pursue your own project facilitated by the Data Science Manager at D&G that delivers a measurable impact on the business.

• Finding the predictive value of a range of data sets

D&G has many under-utilised data sets that we think could be highly predictive of customer behaviour including online data, survey data, claims data, complaints data etc. Joining these data in a meaningful way could produce variables that will power up our existing models. Your task will also include data mining and constructing new variables for testing in the modelling process.

• Tuning and improving existing models

D&G works with large volumes of marketing data across web, mailing and outbound channels. In this environment a small improvement to a model can result in a large cost saving. In this activity you will be required to test some of our existing ideas for model improvement and add some of your own to produce a new model across some of our biggest campaigns.

The Ideal Candidate:

Understanding of statistics and multivariate testing
R or Python for statistical modelling/machine learning/data vis (we are using R)
Experience with SQL
Understanding of Deep Learning (FastAI or other MOOCs will be enough) (desi
