Winners of the Sussex Business Award for Healthiest Workplace
Congratulations to our Brighton office, who have recently won for the second time the prestigious ‘Healthiest Workplace Award’ at the annual Sussex Business Awards 2011, which was held at The Grand Hotel on Brighton’s historic seafront.
Similar to 2010, the Wellbeing team entered the award to showcase the further efforts that have been made over the past year to help Brighton office become a healthier workplace. In 2011, examples included: a 50% increase in sporting activities; the introduction of a ‘Wellbeing Correspondent’, regularly interviewing employees about their wellbeing and lifestyle to encourage others; running quarterly health awareness days with external specialists; and appointing a sports and wellbeing champion to manage activities and better promotion of our core wellbeing policies and initiatives alongside new starters’ contracts of employment, to get them involved right from the beginning of their time with us.
Following a rigorous judging procedure, which included detailed evidence-giving, the judges stated that we stood out for our clear and measurable business objectives for employee wellbeing, alongside a clear roadmap that shows how we will achieve them. Taken with the wellbeing steps we are taking across all our UK sites, D&G people should enter 2012 in a far healthier state than we entered 2011.
