Doing something funny for money

In the run up to Red Nose Day, every day this week our employees will be taking part in fun activities to raise money for Comic Relief.

Today managers at the Brighton contact centre took part in a ‘Trolley Dolly Dash’, racing across all five floors of the office, selling cakes and savoury treats donated by Jasper’s Catering in Portslade. The stunt resulted in a £100 donation, and is the first of several planned fundraising activities, including a comedy-themed pub quiz and a Domestic & General bake-off competition. By the end of the week, the company hopes to have raised at least £1,200 for the charity.

Domestic & General is a long-standing supporter of Comic Relief – while employees at the Nottingham office volunteer to take calls for Red Nose Day, the Brighton office mans the phones for Sport Relief. Together over the last five years the two offices have collected around £half a million in telephone donations for the charity.

Selfie fans in Brighton & Hove can join in the fun by following the lead of celebs including Alan Carr, Elton John, Edith Bowman and Jamie Oliver. Many well-known faces have posted selfies on social media, donning facial hair, silly glasses, face paint or funny expressions in show of their support. The national campaign hopes to raise much-needed funds to help transform the lives of millions of people, both in the UK and across Africa.
