The role holder will deputise for the DGIEU Head of Compliance and therefore will mirror the responsibilities expected of the DGIEU Head of Compliance role holder. This includes deputising for the DGIEU Head of Compliance, including for DGIEU Management Board, EERC and PPGC purposes. The role holder is also expected to deputise for the DGIEU Head of Compliance and people manage the DGIEU Compliance team when they are out of the office / on periods of leave.
Separately, specific responsibilities for this role holder are:
- Lead business contract reviews for the DGIEU business
- Lead a process improvement initiative working with the DGIEU Compliance team to standardise DGIEU compliance processes and outputs. This will include close working with the UK Compliance team
- Lead Financial Crime aspects as they pertain to DGIEU and deliver audit findings as raised in the FY25 Group Financial Crime Internal Audit working closely with the Group Financial Crime specialist.
To support the business (DGIEU) in all aspects of ensuring regulatory compliance in its local regional operations and support in the provision of assurance to management that the business is operating in Compliance with the prevailing regulatory requirements and Group Standards.
The job holder will be required to deputise on the wide scope of tasks of the Head of Compliance – here are sample tasks:
- Work with the business to develop local policies and procedures that implement and/or adapt Group Policies and Standards
- Work with the business to embed the Risk and Compliance Framework across the operation and where appropriate, relevant third party operations
- Proactively monitor the Regulatory Horizon / industry news, to provide informed and forward-looking advice to enable the business to anticipate and respond to changes in the regulatory landscape.
- Design and execute DGIEU risk-based compliance monitoring programme across both internal and external third party distribution and service channels
- Further improve and embed the Internal Controls System
- Ensuring compliance reports are prepared to the highest standards of clarity, substance, presentation and adapted to the needs of the recipients.
- To work with the business to track, manage and report on actions arising from compliance monitoring reviews or other compliance actions that may arise from time to time to ensure these are closed in a timely manner and in accordance with agreed timescales
- To design and deliver appropriate adapted Group Compliance training for all relevant staff and to assist the business in designing and delivering relevant compliance training for third party distributors or service providers, as required
- To advise and guide DGIEU and it’s branches on compliance issues and regulatory developments that may impact on the business, and to advise and guide the business and, where appropriate, third parties on compliance requirements in areas such as financial promotions, scripts, complaints, claims and training. Where any changes to the business are required to assist the business in complying with regulatory requirements
- Providing input to, compiling regulatory reports, both internal and external, in accordance with Group reporting procedures.
