Location: Hybrid – commuting to our head office in Wimbledon as and when required

We have an exciting opportunity for a Group Accountant to join our Group Finance team here at Domestic & General. Reporting into the Head of Group Reporting and Investor Relations, you will help and assist the finance team with our company year end. The post holder will have a broad group accounting role. The company is undergoing a transition to a new general ledger (Workday) and therefore knowledge of Workday is preferred.

Key role responsibilities:

Internal reporting

  • Supporting with the monthly Group reporting including delivery of timely, accurate financial information
  • Supporting with the monthly Group results analysis to our PE owners and the Group CFO, clearly documenting and articulating drivers for variances to budget, key accounting judgements, and opportunities/risks to the budget for the year

External reporting

  • Production of the Group Annual Report & Accounts including project management of the Strategic Report
  • Production of subsidiary statutory accounts
  • Support with the production of technical papers for key judgement areas


  • Building strong relationships with key stakeholders including the external audit team and across the business
  • Ensuring appropriate financial controls and processes are in place to ensure accurate and timely production of financial information

Assist with ad hoc finance projects and provide support to Head of Group Reporting and Investor Relations

Skills and experience required:

  • Engaging and capable of delivering clear objectives
  • Qualified ACA accountant
  • Knowledge of workings with IFRS and UK GAAP
  • Production of simple statutory accounts
  • Strong understanding of robust processes and effective controls
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively at all levels of the business including Senior Management
  • Clear written and oral communication skills
  • Confident, a self-starter, with the ability to operate in a dynamic environment both individually and as a team
  • Able to demonstrate good attention to detail, good judgment showing logical decision making
  • Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines


  • Previous background in Insurance accounting
  • Experience of working in regulated environment, including Solvency, strategic report preparation and project management.
