FAQs

If you’ve got any questions about
applying for a role at Domestic & General,
we’re here to help.

What happens after I’ve applied?

The Resourcing team will review your application and let you know whether you’ve been successful or unsuccessful. We will always communicate an outcome of your application. If you’re successful, we’ll get in touch to arrange an interview. Initially, that may be a telephone call with one of the recruitment team. We will ask you specific questions about your previous experience and your aspirations. If you pass to the next stage, you’ll be invited in for a face-to-face interview or if you’ve applied for a role in one of our Contact Centres, you might be asked to attend one of our Assessments.

Why do I have to tell you about my financial background at the application stage?

We are regulated by both the Financial Conduct Authority and the Prudential Regulation Authority which means we care about our customers and clients. We need to ensure that their data is secure, appropriately used and protected from the risks of loss or theft. That means if we offer you a job here, we’ll need to carry out credit and criminal record checks.

What is involved at an Assessment?

This usually depends on the role you’re applying for. Assessments for our Contact Centre roles include a strengths based interview, role play exercise and a final stage interview with a Team Leader. The purpose of the assessment is to allow you to learn about our business and helps us find out more about you. We’ll talk you through the role and department in more detail. If you reach this stage, you’ll receive the full details of what to expect before the day.

What are strengths-based interview questions?

Strengths-based interview questions focus on the things that you’re naturally good at and enjoy doing, predicting your future potential. They help to create a natural flow of conversation between you and the interviewer.

What are competency-based interview questions?

Competency-based interview questions encourage you to give specific examples of your behaviour and actions in a situation. For example, you may be asked to talk about a busy period at work which placed a lot of demands on you, or a time when you provided excellent customer service. The questions will depend on the role you’re applying for and the interviewer will try to match your experience to the job role.

What are the next stages, if I am successful?

You will be invited to use our new onboarding portal, where you will have access to your contract of employment, onboarding documents and day one instructions. Through the portal you will also have access to lot’s more content about D&G to get you set to start with us.
